Huahine
Huahine, also called The Island of the Woman because it is still ruled by queens, has about 6000 inhabitants on an area of 75km?. It is composed of two mountain ranges separated by two bays whose reliefs would represent a pregnant woman. Its population lives from fishing, cultivates vanilla, melons and watermelons, and exploits copra. Like Tahiti, Huahine is divided into two parts: Huahine Iti in the south, and Huahine Nui in the north. It is on the latter that Fare is located, the main town of the island and the capital of the municipality of Huahine. The island is served by an airfield. Divers can observe a great diversity of corals with remarkable reliefs. The lagoon is a real open-air aquarium that will satisfy the less experienced divers.
